Bushkill Stream Restoration Project Finally Underway!

This summer, a large stream restoration project on Bushkill Creek is underway. Our chapter along with the Bushkill Stream Conservancy shepherded this project, raising money, working with landowners, communities and the project engineer, and finding the right partner (Wildlands Conservancy) to help manage the project. Our chapter committed $15,000 to this $321,000 1.5 mile project utilizing an Embrace-A-Stream grant, PATU Forever wild grant and most importantly generous donations from our members which was greatly appreciated.

A Coldwater Conservation grant amnd other state grants were awarded to Wildlands.

After being postponed in 2020 due to coronavirus concerns, Flyway Excavating has begun construction in the “Class A” stream to improve riparian and in-stream wild trout habitat. The project goes through existing public parks and open space in three different municipalities. Project scope includes 25 individual PAFBC approved rock structures and over 100 large in stream boulder placements.
